The winter semester of 1st year is a semester of general university classes for all PhD students

ETHICS
This course consist of two parts: a lecture (4 teaching hours) and workshops (2 workshop to choose, 2 teaching hours each). 8 teaching hours altogether. The course is planned to be held as stationary classes.

  • The lecture will be held by prof. Paweł Łuków (Faculty of Philosophy)
    Dates:
    10th November 2021, 10.00-13.15 (a lecture in Polish language, place: CNBCh, class: A+B + main hall) or
    10th November 2021, 13.30-16.45 (a lecture in English language, place: CNBCh, class: B + main hall)
    Workshops: each PhD student is obliged to choose 2 workshops within 5 offered
    (! Classrooms for two of workshops have been changed – please check information in USOS)

COPYRIGHT
This course consist of two parts – an obligatory lecture (4 teaching hours) and a voluntary lecture (4 teaching hours). Both lectures will be held by prof. Wojciech Machała (Faculty of Law and Administration). The course is planned to be held as stationary classes. Dates:

HIGHER EDUCATION DIDACTICS
This course consists of two parts – a lecture (A) and a workshop (B) – each part is planned for 10 teaching hours. They both are obligatory. The course is going to be led online.

  • The lecture will be held by dr Ewa Wasilewska-Kamińska
    The course will appear soon in USOS and all PhD students will be registered for it by the school’s office
  • Workshop will be held by dr Monika Klejman and MA Agnieszka Suszczyńska; 1 group of 8 to be chosen; 6 groups for Polish-speaking students and the 2 last ones for English-speaking students

PUBLISHING STRATEGY
This course consists of 3 parts:

  • a lecture for all PhD students (2 teaching hours), NEW INFORMATION BELOW
  • lectures for each discipline separately (4 teaching hours) which will be held as stationary classes or online (it depends from the COViD-19 situation); the dates will be introduced later
  • classes in the groups of 10 divided within each discipline (4 teaching hours); thet will be held as stationary classes or online (it depends from the COViD-19 situation); the dates will be introduced later

The lecture for all PhD students will take place on 19th of November 2021 (Friday) at 14.00 – 15.30. It will be held by prof. Piotr Wasylczyk.  The localisation of the lecture: Faculty of Physics, building A and B, CENT II, classroom no. 0.06.

You all have already been registered both for specialisation lectures and workshops. Please check your workshop groups – you were divided into the groups according to the surnames’ alphabetical order. The lecturers holding the classes are visible in the USOS. In case of disciplines, which the dates or localisation have not been given yet for, they will appear just after the latest details are discussed. Please follow the school’s website and your USOS accounts.

RESEARCH SEMINAR (60 hours till the end of 2nd year).

PhD student should take part in a seminar at the Faculty or in the external institution. The selection of the seminar should be in agreement with the supervisor. Seminars are not provided by the Doctoral School. PhD student should sign up for the seminar according to the rules applicable to a given course (registration in the USOS is not always possible).

TEACHING PRACTICE

PhD student realizes teaching practice at a faculty in the amount of hours specific for each discipline as it is described in the Programme of Study. REGISTRATION FOR GENERAL UNIVERSITY CLASSES

The registration to groups takes place from 27th September 2021, 20.00 to 11th October 2021, 23.59. The registration will be possible via platform: https://usosweb.uw.edu.pl 
The registration for the courses: Publishing strategy, Research Seminar and Teachinf Practice will be opened later.

Attention! We are kindly asking you for a reasonable registration, especially when voluntary classes are regarded. When you are registered for voluntary classes, they will become obligatory ones, which you are obliged to attend and get credits for.

WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY COURSE (BHP)
You all have been registered for BHP course (in USOS) which you are obliged to take and get a credit for. You can attend the course via online platform: https://kampus.come.uw.edu.pl
To log into the platform you should use your login details from USOSweb. There you can find a set of training materials and a final test which gives you a credit for the whole course.
When you get a positive test result, you will be given a credit for the course in USOS.  The course as an USOS subject should stay unlinked both to the programme and the stage.
The training materials are available on the platform without a time limit. However, the final test you can only take in the following periods:
– in the winter semester: from 2nd November 2021 to 13th February 2022 and from 25th February 2022 to 6th March 2022
– in the summer semester: from 21st March 2022 to 10th July 2022 and from 29th August 2022 to 11th September 2022
Additional periods are not expected. In case of not taking the course and not getting credit for it, you can try once again for free. Nevertheless, after the deadline, it is only possible to move the course for the next academic year.
