Recruitment 2025/2026
It is worth starting the recruitment process to a doctoral school at the University of Warsaw with finding a supervisor, who will be willing to provide care for the doctoral student and perform scientific supervision over their research project. The name of the supervisor and the scan of their declaration about their willingness to be the candidate’s supervisor shall be submitted in IRK. In order to find a supervisor, candidates for the Doctoral Schools are encouraged to search through the database of supervisors available here [LINK]. The database contains the list of the University of Warsaw researchers, who are willing to perform the function of the dissertation supervisor. Please note that not all potential supervisors are on the list. The candidates are also encouraged to consult the websites of the University of Warsaw faculties and academic units for the information on academic teachers conducting their research.
The Director of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the UW announces the results of recruitment for the academic year 2025/2026 in the disciplines:
Astronomy: ranking list;
Mathematics and Computer Science: ranking list;
Biological Sciences: ranking list;
Chemical Sciences: ranking list;
Physical Sciences: ranking list;
Earth and Environmental Sciences: ranking list.
Candidates who have been recommended for admission are required to submit the documents listed below to the School’s office (CENT building, room nr 0.06 and 0.05, 2C Banacha St., 02-097 Warsaw). The documents can be submitted from July 28 to September 23, 2025.
List of documents required for enrollment to the list of the doctoral students:
– original document entitling to study at the School (diploma);
– printed and signed documents generated from your IRK account (“Enrollment Applications”, “Documents and Further Steps”):
1. Application for admission to the School;
2. Declaration of choice of doctoral school and discipline;
3. Personal data processing declaration for educational purposes.
Qualified candidates who resign from their place in the school are asked to inform the recruitment coordinator at: rekrutacja.nsp@uw.edu.pl
A visit to the school office should be arranged through the booking calendar (purpose: recruitment). During the visit, you will need to show a photo document proving your identity.
Once you have obtained an “accepted” status in IRK, the doctoral school administration will enter your data into the USOS system. Logging in for first-time students at the UW is done using your PESEL number and password from the IRK system. If you have problems logging in (need to change your password), please contact the school office.
USOSweb: LINK. After gaining access to USOS, make an appointment (via the calendar) for a second visit to the school office – it is necessary in order to complete the formalities related to the payment of the scholarship.
For the second visit to the School you should prepare:
– fill out the statement for the doctoral scholarship LINK
(there is, among other things, information about the name and address of the tax office, the name of the bank and the Polish bank account number);
– information about the health insurance you have and its basis and the relevant department of the National Health Fund. The University of Warsaw does not provide the insurance for the persons from outside the EU/ EFTA.
Candidates who are interested in obtaining a place in a dormitory should submit the indicated documents as soon as possible. Enrolled doctoral students can apply for the place from August 4 to September 15, 2025. For more information, visit the UW’s Student’s Welfare and Support Office website: LINK.
Recruitment schedule
1) registration in the Internet Recruitment for Candidates, referred to as “IRK”, submitting an application to the IRK for admission to the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences: from 15th of April to 29th of May 2025;
2) sending recommendation letters: until 9th of June 2025;
3) recruitment procedure:
a) publication of the interview schedule: until 16th of June 2025;
b) qualification procedure: from 16th of June to 11st of July 2025;
c) announcement of the ranking list: until 1st of August 2025;
d) accepting documents from qualified candidates: from 4th of August to 23rd of September 2025;
e) announcement of the list of accepted candidates: until 30th of September 2025

– biological sciences – limit of 14 places
– chemical sciences – limit of 22 places
– physical sciences – limit of 26 places
