What is the deadline of submitting my dissertation?

The dissertation must be submitted no later than on the date that you’ve stated in your Individual Research Plan. If you don’t remember which date you’ve written in, please contact the doctoral school’s office.

In most cases the deadline is 30th of September 2023, but please keep in mind that this year, September 30th falls on Saturday, and The Scientific Councils Office (BRN) works from Monday to Friday. Therefore, with the consent of the Rector of the University, it will be possible to submit dissertations on October 2.

Where do I submit my dissertation?

The dissertation must be submitted in The Scientific Councils Office (BRN) of the UW. Their address for the exact and natural sciences is the Faculty of Gelogy, Żwirki i Wigury 93, 3rd floor,  rooms 3049, 3051, 3053

 

What documents do I have to submit with the doctoral dissertation?

What are the consequences of not submitting my my dissertation in time?

It will result in your removal from the list of doctoral students. Moreover, if you submit the dissertation after the deadline, you will be treated as an extramural doctoral degree applicant. The extramural mode is chargeable (21,630 PLN).

 

What should I do if I can’t finish my dissertation before the deadline stated in my IRP?

The Rules and Regulations of the doctoral schools allow the possibility to apply for an extension of the deadline by one year, and then by another year.  You have already received an e-mail regarding this matter.

 

Do I get to keep my rights as a doctoral student during the extension? 

Yes – except the right to a scholarship.

 

Legalisation of stay in Poland

Doctoral students who are not Polish citizens are kindly reminded that they need to legalise their stay and have a proper health insurance after submitting their dissertation, if they plan to continue their stay in Poland.
