Fran i Franček – lexicographic portals of the Institute of the Slovenian Language Fran Ramovš

The aim is to present two lexicographic portals of the Institute of Slovenian Language. Fran Ramovš at the Scientific and Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, i.e. the Fran and Franček portals, the creation of which left an imprint on the Slovenian lexicography of the last decade.
The Fran portal, launched in 2014, currently combines 39 dictionaries of the Slovenian language (general language dictionaries, dialect dictionaries, terminological, etymological and historical dictionaries), the Slovenian language atlas, language and terminology clinics and provides access to other collections of the Slovenian Language Institute. The Franček portal, which was created in 2017-2021, is intended for students; its content is adapted to the needs of three age groups: (1) 1st to 5th grade of primary school, (2) 6th to 9th grade of primary school and (3) secondary school students. In addition to the dictionary content, the website also includes links to two school grammars and a language counseling center for teachers. It is an innovative portal that was created as a response to the demand for age-appropriate dictionaries and content, and aims to gradually encourage young people to use more detailed dictionaries and language guides.
