Interdisciplinary Doctoral School

First Year – courses

The winter semester of the first year of education is a common semester for all doctoral students of all doctoral schools at the University of Warsaw. During this time the following classes will take place:

ETHICS – this course consists of two parts – a lecture (4 teaching hours) and workshops (2 workshops, 2 teaching hours each). Classes will be held only online.

  • online lecture (using ZOOM) will be given by prof. Paweł Łuków (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw); dates: 4.11.2020 from 10.00 to 13.00 (lecture in Polish) or 5.11.2020 from 10.00 to 13.00 (lecture in English)
  • online workshops (using the kampus.uw.edu.pl platform); each doctoral student is obliged to take part in 2 out of 9 workshop proposals (each workshop lasts 2 teaching hours). Registration for the workshops will take place in two stages. First, you need to choose the topics of the workshops, and then, after determining the level of interest, you will be presented with proposals for the dates of classes to choose from during the second registration.

COPYRIGHT – this course consists of two parts – a compulsory lecture (4 teaching hours) and a voluntary lecture (4 teaching hours). Classes will be held only online. The classes will be conducted by dr hab. Wojciech Machała (Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw)

  • 25.11.2020 from 10.00 to 13.15 – obligatory lecture in Polish
  • 26.11.2020 from 10.00 to 13.15 – obligatory lecture in English
  • 3.12.2020 from 10.00 to 13.15 – voluntary lecture in Polish
  • 2.12.2020 from 10.00 to 13.15 – voluntary lecture in English

ACADEMIC TEACHING – this course consists of three parts – lecture (part A), workshop (part B), additional workshop (part C). Each part lasts 10 teaching hours.

Notice! Only Doctoral students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences do not have to participate in part C.

Academic teaching classes will be held both in online groups and in stationary groups (unless they are forbidden for various reasons), according to the doctoral student’s choice. The online platform for conducting classes will be indicated in the subject syllabuses, group descriptions.

PUBLISHING STRATEGY – (only for Doctoral Students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences) this course consists of three parts:

  • online lecture for all Doctoral Students of the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences (2 h) will be given by prof. Mikołaj Bojańczyk; dates: 6.11.2020 from 14.00 to 15.30
  • lecture by discipline (4h) – online or stationary depending on the situation; more details coming soon
  • workshops in groups of about 10, by discipline (4 h) – online or stationary depending on the situation; more details coming soon

REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES

Due to the extended period of recruitment to Doctoral Schools caused by the pandemic, in order to enable all admitted doctoral students to have equal access to the enrollment for classes, registration to the groups will take place from 8.10.2020 at 20.00 to 14.10.2020 at 23.59. Registration will be conducted via https://usosweb.uw.edu.pl.
There will be a two-stage registration for the “Ethics” workshops:

  • From 8.10.2020 at 20.00 to 14.10.2020 at 23.59 – choice of the topic of the workshops
  • From 20.10.2020 at 20.00 to 26.10.2020 at 23.59 – choice of the dates of the workshops

 

Notice! We ask you for thoughtful enrollment for classes – in particular for “voluntary” groups. At the time of enrollment they become obligatory classes for you, required for the settlement of the year.
